That means giving parents the freedom to choose the school that fits their child best — whether it’s public, private, charter, or homeschool. One size doesn’t fit all.
But freedom must come with accountability. Just like in any skilled job, when results are great, there should be rewards — and when results are poor, there should be consequences. Nevada’s schools currently rank among the lowest in the nation for test scores, and that should be a wake-up call for all of us.
I believe in performance-based pay for teachers that encourages excellence and supports those making a difference in the classroom. Let’s empower families, reward success, and hold everyone — including our leaders — accountable for delivering better outcomes for Nevada’s kids.
